March 15-16, 2009 – The Indonesia Polo Season kicked off over the weekend with the Beginners cup in Nusantara Polo club. After a long break, there were happy atmosfere among the players and spectators, on and off the field, with 4 teams competing for the first cup of the season. The teams were Guardsmen, Polo Heads, Beginers cup II Season 08 champion – Pato Loco and, from Thailand the Black Dogs Polo Team headed by Tom Claytor.

On Saturday saw a great day for the Father and Daugther Duo from Pato Loco, Daya and Daninya Zakir by beating the Guardsmen by 4-1. 17 Year old Daninya was the star of the match by scoring 3 out of the 4, while Daya score a stunning goal from the penalty spot. On a the other playoff, Polo Heads held on to their 1 goal lead to beat the Black Dogs to earn the spot the finals.

On Sunday, the Guardsmen bounced back from the day before to beat Black Dogs by 3-0, which 2 goals were scored by Howard Chu.

Although there were fear of a down pour, the final was completed by the impressive win by the Polo Heads beating Pato Loco by 4-1.
Mario ‘The matador’ Miguel showed some fine ride-offs maneuver to clear path for Rajiv and DJ Mear to hit home 3 goals to win the cup.

It was a deserving win for Polo Heads and Nusantara Polo Club Manager award Tom Claytor the Mas Caballero en la cancha trophy, for his support and great sportmanship.
